Laparoscopy – Ectopic Pregnancy

Symptoms

A 37 year old woman had a baby following an IVF cycle. She had embryos in storage following this cycle. She presented with a slowly rising pregnancy hormone and pelvic pain. This was a natural conception.

Diagnosis

There was an empty uterus on pelvic ultrasound.

Procedure

She subsequently had a laparoscopy Laparoscopy confirmed a large left tubal ectopic pregnancy. Left Salpingectomy (removal of left tube) was performed. Irena was inserted post-operatively.

Outcome

She subsequently had a successful pregnancy following a frozen embryo transfer.
