What to Bring
For your first appointment, please bring:
Referral letter (for Medicare rebates)
Medicare or DVA card
Private health insurance details
Relevant radiology and pathology reports
List of medications and allergies
Family medical history
Any previous medical or surgical records
Preparing for Your Appointment
The best time for a gynaecological exam (e.g. Pap smear) is about one week after your period.
Avoid using vaginal creams or douching for at least three days before your appointment.
Bring a written list of questions you’d like to ask.
Try to relax — deep breathing and a calm mindset can make the exam more comfortable
What Happens at Your First Visit?
Your consultation may include:
Discussion of your general, family, gynaecological, and sexual health history
Opportunity to ask questions openly and confidentially
Pelvic or breast examination (if clinically required)
Discussion of further investigations or treatment options
Appointment duration varies depending on whether it is an initial consultation, Pap smear, or follow-up visit.
- You are welcome to bring a support person.
- Interpreters can be arranged on request.
Appointment Confirmations
SMS reminders are sent automatically and will include the clinic location. No reply is needed.
Patients without a mobile phone should call or email at least one business day before their appointment to confirm
Payment
Dr Cook’s practice is a private service.
Full payment is expected on the day of consultation.
Medicare rebates are available with a referral letter.
Some fees may be partially covered by private health insurance.
Please speak with our reception team for clarification.
Practice Policies
Arrivals
Please arrive a little early to allow time for paperwork.
Late Arrivals
If you are late, we may need to shorten or reschedule your appointment to avoid delays for other patients.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend.

Missed or late-cancelled appointments will incur a $50 fee.
