Hormone Replacement Therapy and Heavy Bleeding

HRT - Menorrhagia

Symptoms

A 50 year old woman presented with menorrhagia. She was taking HRT.

Diagnosis

A pelvic ultrasound revealed a 4 cm fibroid extending into the cavity of the uterus.

Procedure

A Hysteroscopy and Myomectomy was performed (using Myosure device). A Mirena IUCD was inserted and the woman commenced oestrogen patches.

Outcome

The menorrhagia resolved.
