Laparoscopy - Endometriosis

Symptoms

A 40 year old woman presented with infertility. She had had one miscarriage. She had a regular cycle and no pelvic pain.

Diagnosis

Pelvic Ultrasound revealed a 5cm right ovary cyst – consistent with endometrioma. She subsequently underwent a laparoscopy which revealed Grade IV endometriosis.

Procedure

This was all excised and the right ovarian endometrioma removed.

Outcome

She conceived spontaneously within three months post operatively.
