Infertility - Laparoscopic Cervical Cerclage

Symptoms

A 35 year old woman presented with primary infertility.

Diagnosis

She had undergone treatment for cervical cancer (two cone biopsies). The cervix was very short and at risk of dilating during a pregnancy leading to miscarriage.

Procedure

Thus a Laparoscopic Cervical Cerclage (mersilene tape) was inserted to re-inforce the cervix.

Outcome

She subsequently had a successful pregnancy (delivered by Casearean Section) following IVF.
