She Wanted a Baby

SYMPTOMS

A 40 year old woman presented with plans of having a baby using donor sperm.

DIAGNOSIS

Routine fertility investigations revealed a 10cm cyst on her left ovary

PROCEDURE

A Laparoscopic Cystectomy was performed. The pathology revealed a benign serous cyst-adenoma.

OUTCOME

The woman went on to have a successful pregnancy via IVF.

The outer tissue of the ovary is opened to find the cyst below. The cyst is removed and the normal left ovarian tissue remains

The left ovary continues to heal and will return to a normal appearance. The normal right ovary is now seen.
