Prolapse - Laparoscopic Mesh Sacral Colpopexy
Symptoms
A 60 year old woman presented with a complete procidentia.
Diagnosis
Complete prolapse of the uterus.
Procedure
She subsequently underwent Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Mesh Sacral Colposuspension.
Outcome
She made an excellent recovery and the prolapse was cured.
The uterus at the start of the procedure
A Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy has been performed. This demonstrates the final part of detaching the uterus from the vagina (colpotomy)
The vault is closed carefully
The mesh has been sutured to the front and back walls of the vaginal vault. This picture demonstrates tacking the mesh into the sacral promontory
The peritoneum is closed over the top of the mesh. At the end of the procedure.
