Difficulty in Getting Pregnant Due to Endometriosis

Endometriosis & Dysmenorrhoea

Symptoms

A 30 year old woman presented with significant dysmenorrhoea. She had been trying to get pregnant for 6 months.

Diagnosis

Laparoscopy revealed Stage IV endometriosis which was appropriately treated.

Outcome

The pain resolved and she conceived spontaneously within 5 months.

Stage IV endometriosis. 30mm right ovarian endometrioma which is adherent to the rectum

The rectum is carefully liberated from the posterior cervix and underlying endometriosis is excised

The wall of the ovarian endometrioma is carefully stripped and normal ovarian tissue is preserved

The right side wall endometriosis is excised. The right ureter has been dissected out

The left side wall endometriosis is excised. The left ureter has been dissected out

The normal pelvis at the end showing all endometriosis has been treated. There are two normal ovaries.
