Heavy Bleeding Caused by Multi-Fibroid Uterus

Multi-Fibroid Uterus - Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Symptoms

A 50 year old woman presented with heavy bleeding. She had trialled the OCP but this had not resulted in lighter bleeding.

Diagnosis

A pelvic USS had revealed a multifibroid uterus with a 30mm intracavitary fibroid.

Procedure

She subsequently had a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.

Laparoscopic view of multi-fibroid uterus.

Colpotomy - to detach the uterus and cervix from the vagina.

Dividing the right ovarian ligament. The right ovary is preserved.

Laparoscopic suturing - to close the vaginal vault.

A view of the pelvis taken further back -to demonstrate normal ovaries.

Dividing the left uterine artery.

The vaginal vault has been closed with laparoscopic sutures.
