Hormone Replacement Therapy and Heavy Bleeding

HRT - Menorrhagia

SYMPTOMS

A 50 year old woman presented with menorrhagia. She was taking HRT.

DIAGNOSIS

A pelvic ultrasound revealed a 4 cm fibroid extending into the cavity of the uterus.

PROCEDURE

A Hysteroscopy and Myomectomy was performed (using Myosure device). A Mirena IUCD was inserted and the woman commenced oestrogen patches.

OUTCOME

The menorrhagia resolved.

The large fibroid in the cavity of the uterus. Large blood vessels are noted on the surface
