Irregular Bleeding After Menopause

Irregular Bleeding - Hysterectomy

Symptoms

A 52 year old woman presenting with irregular bleeding.

Diagnosis

She was taking HRT to control significant postmenopausal symptoms.

Procedure

She elected to undergo Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries and tubes. She subsequently commenced Oestrogen patches.

Outcome

She made an excellent recovery was extremely satisfied with the result.

The uterus as seen at Laparoscopy. Filshie clips are noted. These were placed on the tubes many years before for sterilisation.

The right uterine artery has been dissected out and is being bipolared

The vaginal vault at the end. The uterus, tubes and ovaries have been removed. The vaginal vault is closed with two sutures.
