Vaginal Prolapse - Laparoscopic Mesh

Symptoms

A 62 year old woman presented with a large vaginal prolapse.

Diagnosis

She had undergone a hysterectomy 20 years earlier.

Procedure

She subsequently underwent a Laparoscopic Mesh Sacral Colposuspension.

Outcome

She made an excellent recovery and the prolapse resolved.

The vaginal vault at the start of the procedure.
 

The mesh is sutured to the vaginal vault after the bladder has been cleared

The rectum is dissected clear of the vaginal vault – for later attachment of the mesh

The mesh has been tacked into the sacral promontory for elevation of the vaginal vault. The peritoneum has been sutured over the mesh. The end of the procedure.
