Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy - Endometriosis
Symptoms
A 43 year old woman had experienced debilitating chronic pelvic pain since a caesarean section 10 years prior.
Diagnosis
She recalls that the bladder was very scarred and adherent to the uterus because of endometriosis. The pain was associated with bladder symptoms including frequency and dysuria. The pain was very severe with a full bladder. She was experiencing frequent UTIs. She had also developed heavy irregular bleeding.
Procedure
We decided to do a Total Laparoscopcopic Hysterectomy.
Outcome
She recovered well and was completely pain free. Her bladder symptoms resolved.
The laparoscopic view of the uterus.
Significant scarring noted over the bladder.
Careful mobilisation of the bladder from the anterior cervix and uterus.
The ovaries are conserved.
The uterus and cervix are detached from the vaginal cuff.
The vaginal vault is closed. A normal pelvis at the end of the hysterectomy.
