Ruptured Uterine Artery
Symptoms
A 47 year old woman presented to the Emergency Department with sudden onset severe pelvic pain. She had a history of severe right sided pain at ovulation.
Diagnosis
A Pelvic ultrasound revealed blood in the pelvis. Laparoscopy revealed that endometriosis had grown into the left uterine artery which had ruptured and was haemorrhaging. Both ovaries were normal and mobile.
The uterus is surrounded by blood
The left uterine artery and left ureter have been dissected out to reveal endometriosis of the left side wall. The left uterine artery bleeding has been occluded with bipolar.
The left side wall endometriosis is excised. Careful bipolar has been done along the length of the left uteine artery.
